Of these aforementioned classics, Home Alone is perhaps the most entertaining Christmas movie of all time. It follows 8-year-old Kevin McCallister as his family accidentally goes to France without him. Beyond grocery shopping and doing the laundry, Kevin is pitted against two hardened burglars, who are intent on robbing his seemingly vacated house. The ensuing battle between the Wet Bandits (Joe Pesci & Daniel Stern) and Kevin McCallister showcase some of the funniest moments of cinematic savagery ever. From comedic deterrents to brutal obstacles, here are Kevin's 10 best schemes.
When Kevin was lost in New York in Home Alone 2, he ran into the recently escaped Wet Bandits once again. One of the best things he did to Marv happened in this movie, when Kevin liberally coated the floor in some kind of green goo. After a few seconds of frenzied dancing, Marv finally went down and slid the length of the room, where he slammed into a shelf filled with paint cans. But, before the shelf topples over, one of its legs is at his painfully perfect groin-height.

Harry and Marv bid to rob Kevin's house, and Buzz and Frank bully Kevin, and are horrible to him. However, after some of the family get back home, Buzz kindly admits to Kevin that it's "pretty cool he didn't burn the house down" while he was home alone. Jeff Goldblum and Sam Neill were considered for the role of Peter McCallister, but were too busy with other projects at the time. Rather than using glass shards, they made fake ornaments from sugar, sometimes called candy glass, to create the transparent, colored spheres. They also gave the actor a pair of rubber feet that he could wear on top of his bare feet. It looked like he was barefoot in the shot, but he was protected by a skin-colored rubber surface.

It's a very classic pratfall with Harry and Marv walking over a multitude of toy cars that send them flying into their and back to the ground with a scream and a thud. It's classic and a lot of slapstick comedies would use something similar throughout the '90s. I mean, if I saw a spider of that size, I’d probably want to kill it too, but with how hard Marv hits Harry, there are surely going to be some broken ribs. And honestly, if the hit was hard enough, Marv could have easily punctured a lung as well if the rib breaks into it.
In 2011, the movie aired on December 23, with an audience of over five million, making it the most popular show aired during the Christmas season in Poland. He was given a break from filming while he recovered, except for one scene in particular. When Kevin is being chased by the police officer for accidentally shoplifting the toothbrush, Macaulay's voice is very hoarse, his face is pale, and his eyes were red and puffy. Although the part was written especially for Macaulay Culkin by John Hughes, several hundred other boys were auditioned by Chris Columbus. According to the DVD commentary, Columbus was hesitant to cast Culkin because Hughes had so recently cast him in Allein mit Onkel Buck , and didn't want to appear as a pushover in the film community. It was only after auditioning all the other young actors that he realized Culkin was, in fact, the best choice for the part.

Some scenes were shot in a three-story single-family house, located at 671 Lincoln Avenue, in Winnetka, Illinois. The kitchen in this movie was shot in the house, along with the main staircase, basement, and most of the first floor landing. The house's dining room, and all of the downstairs rooms were built on a soundstage. The house was built in 1921, and features five bedrooms, a fully converted attic, a detached double garage, and a greenhouse.
At the same time, it can make the viewer wonder if Kevin got the idea from watching Die Hard, another Christmas classic where John McClane had to walk through glass. Marv is far from the brightest bulb, but Kevin is lucky that he fell for it. It's still humorous to watch but the elements that stack against it lead it to be the weakest trap in Home Alone, but it did plant the seed for a much better version of the trap in the sequel featuring Tim Curry's character. While all the traps require a bit of suspension of disbelief, this early trap is one that is quite the miracle that Kevin pulled off.
In real-life, the actors and actresses who played Buzz, Megan, Jeff, and Linnie are all the same age being born in 1977, while Culkin is still the youngest being born in 1980. In this order, it is Devin Ratray born in January, Hillary Wolf born in February, Angela Goethals born in May, and Michael C. Maronna born in September. Michael Richards and Christopher Lloyd were considered for the role of Marv, but were too busy with other projects at the time. A scene was filmed, but cut, in which Peter , Heather , Linnie , and Jeff (Michael C. Maronna) are seen lying in bed and are unable to sleep because they are worried about Kevin and they miss him.
When Marv is incapacitated and covered in paint we see Kevin mess about with the fuse box which he has connected to the sink via cables as Marv gets up to wash his face he gets the shock of his life as we see him get electrocuted. In a moment of peak ridiculousness that makes us laugh we see Marv switch between a shrieking skeleton and his usual paint-covered face. As Harry wanders about we see a rigged blowtorch light his hat on fire which he realizes after a few seconds. No water in the taps leads him to dunk his head in the toilet, but Kevin who was prepared for this had filled the pot with kerosene.
Even though director Chris Columbus pushed to hold auditions for the role of Kevin McCallister, by the end, it was unanimously clear that Home Alone had found its hero in Macaulay Culkin. Harry hilariously screams as he just sits there and lets the blow torch burn his scalp. If that's not funny enough, Harry prances around outside before diving headfirst into the snow. Joe Pesci tends to play hot-headed characters, but this takes it to another level.
The episode ends with a bloody-faced Kevin making his signature scream at the carjacker. In the extended version of the scene in which the family are in Paris. The extended version of shows how mean-spirited Buzz and Frank really are, and that Frank also treats Fuller poorly like Kevin. Twice by the pizza delivery man, once by the airport shuttle, and once by a police officer.
In the second, film he chases the young McCallister into an apartment and runs into another booby trap that lights his head on fire once again. In both films, McCallister unloads a world of pain on the criminals, Harry and Marv, the latter played by Daniel Stern. While stunt doubles were used for many scenes, Pesci said that some of the ones he did commit to were quite painful – namely, his head being set on fire.
Home Alone was filmed in an era when the industry had much different safety standards. The movie was on a tight budget, making post-production special effects out of reach. Columbus explained that the stuntmen were working without a harness during filming. Stuntmen performed many of the reactions to the booby traps that Kevin set, and the more intensive stunts made the crew nervous.
